Fiona Hooper

As 'Artist in Residence' at the Musical Museum, Kew Bridge, London, I have had two solo exhibitions there featuring paintings of scenes from classic movies, and then portraits of some of the great singers and musicians of the movies.

My interest in art began when I was very young, and much of my childhood was spent drawing and painting. At that time most of my subjects were horses, and although they are still a favourite, my subjects are now much more diverse.

Many things inspire me to paint, with landscapes, modern still life, animals and people all featuring in my work. My emphasis when painting is on the effects of light and capturing the essence of my subject. I paint mainly in oils, but also work in acrylic, mixed media, fine art coloured pencil, and graphite pencil, always using the highest quality materials.

My work has won a number of local and national awards, and is held in private collections in the UK and internationally.

I have completed many commissioned portraits, both of animals and people, and I also accept commissions for other subjects.

Paintings may be viewed at my West Sussex studio by appointment.

As well as running a local art group, I give demonstrations and workshops, and welcome the opportunity to contribute and help other artists as I have been helped in the past.
